Damage and instability often appear gradually: a cracked pallet board, leaning product, a displaced load, or repeated contact in the same storage location. Small warning signs deserve attention before another movement makes the condition worse.
Three points to discuss
- Do not place a visibly damaged pallet or unstable load back into normal storage without evaluation.
- Maintain enough clearance and visibility to place and retrieve loads without repeated contact.
- Report recurring rack, pallet, product, or equipment damage so the underlying traffic or storage issue can be reviewed.
Ask the team
- What pallet or load condition should cause an employee to stop and ask for help?
- Where do employees place damaged pallets or questionable loads?
- Which storage location shows repeated contact, leaning, or difficult placement?
Review one storage row from the floor. Look for damaged pallets, protruding material, leaning or displaced loads, falling-object exposure, and patterns of impact.
Close the huddle
Do not normalize visible damage. Isolate the immediate concern and make the repeated pattern visible to leadership.
