Open the conversation
A floor condition becomes more dangerous when people stop noticing it. Spills, cords, broken surfaces, loose wrap, weather, and temporary work can all change a familiar walking route.
Three points to discuss
- Correct or clearly control a spill, obstruction, or damaged surface instead of assuming the next person will see it.
- Keep tools, cords, packaging, and waste out of travel paths whenever the work allows.
- Use the reporting and isolation method employees can apply immediately, including when permanent repair will take time.
Ask the team
- Which floor condition is most often accepted as normal in this area?
- What can an employee do immediately when cleanup or repair cannot happen at once?
- Where do weather, leaks, or process changes create recurring conditions?
Walk the transition between two work areas. Look at floor level for changes in elevation, traction, lighting, drainage, cords, debris, and blind turns.
Close the huddle
The useful response is correction plus communication. Make the condition visible and prevent the next exposure.
